Summer means that BBQ season is upon us again. The theme for this summer is outdoors so the plan is to host family and friends in our garden this summer. These tips will help you host the ultimate summer BBQ party.

Pre- BBQ food prep

Prepare as much of the BBQ food as you can in the morning as this will give you more time to chill out in the evening. Things you can do to prepare include:

  • Marinating the meats the night before such as pork chops, chicken fillets, etc.
  • Cut the vegetable for your skewers
  • Slice the bread for the burgers and hotdogs
  • Wash and prepare leaves for salad.

Burgers, hotdogs and kebabs

When cooking burgers, the golden rule is to leave them alone. Make sure not to press on the burgers as they will lose their juiciness. Hot dogs are also a classic favourite at BBQs as you can cater to everyone’s taste from pork sausages, chicken sausages and vegan sausages. Kebabs and skewers are also a great addition to any BBQ party. They offer a great mix of vegetable and meat while still being tasty.

Sides and condiments

Everyone loves different toppings on their burger, hotdog or just as a side salad. Coleslaw, potato salad and salad are common sides at BBQ’s. it is an excellent time to show off your fresh gardening produce to your guests. You can add fresh lettuce and tomatoes into your tasty salad. Other sides that people really love at BBQ’s are crisps, chips and dips. Salsa, guacamole and humus are some of the most popular dips that people love at BBQ parties. Condiments such as ketchup, mustard and mayo are also a requirement.

Drinks

Fizzy drinks and ice cold beverages are a must have for the long summer days. Iced tea and homemade lemonade are very refreshing as well as alcoholic drinks for other guests. Summer time is the best time for frozen drinks such as slushies and cocktails. Lastly the most important to drink to include at your party is water.
